The rock-opera “The End” is based on the novel “Dying Is So Difficult” by outstanding Armenian writer Mushegh Ishkhan. It depicts the curious tragedy of a historical injustice victim, a man living in Diaspora.
The main character, James Aramyan is taken to hospital after a car accident. Realizing his nearest decease the doctors transplant his brain into a patient of other nationality. James’ soul is not accepted to Heaven. Archangels Gabriel and Michael argue about the incomprehensible status and “imperfection” of the corpse and send him back. Aramyan’s soul is present in the funeral procession of its body and inspired by this tries to enter Celestial Kingdom again. Farcical and tragicomic scenes follow one after another and he stays at the intersection of heaven and earth - complaining about the wanderer’s destiny of Armenians. Another tragedy evolves on earth: Harold with his new brain periodically expresses insane ideas about his emigrant family and ends up rejected from his beloved and the society.
Both sufferers, who are victims super-science outdoing everything, start spontaneous actions between heaven and earth, consequently provoking a conflict between saints.
The alternation of these curious developments gives birth to the “promised flood” in view of mankind sins becoming impermissible, blasphemous tendencies of science and inhumane perversion. The rain aimed for the destruction of humanity actually serves for forgiveness and purification.
